TOKYO: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has just appeared at the Japanese PlayStation Store and has revealed how much free space users will need to download and install it. Game director Hideo Kojima also posted a new promotional poster for the game which doesn’t even have his name on it.

Metal Gear Solid 5 is ready for preorders on the Japanese PlayStation Store and reveals that users will need 25.1GB of free space in order to download it. In comparison, that file size isn’t that big. As pointed out by Techno Buffalo, the game The Evil Within which isn’t as graphically demanding has a larger file size. It’s suspected that Kojima along with his team may have managed to have a smaller file size thanks to the Fox Engine. For the PlayStation 3, the file size is a lot smaller at 11.3GB, simply because it won’t be up to par with the PS4’s graphics capabilities.

It’s important to note that these file sizes may vary depending on regions because of files that are specific to a corresponding country. As for other gaming platforms, the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC file sizes of the game has not yet been revealed.

With Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain release date just over a month away, Hideo Kojima posted on his Twitter account a new promotional poster for the game. It features Snake and his sniper extraordinaire partner Quiet, covered in a lot of blood. The Japanese text on the poster translates to “stained in blood, the aftermath of revenge.” The most noticeable thing about the poster is the absence of Hideo Kojima’s name, as well as the Kojima Productions logo. Fans of the franchise are used to seeing the subtitle “A Hideo Kojima Game” for any Metal Gear Solid title.

It’s been speculated that Kojima and game publisher Konami had a falling out. It was first spotted in March when Konami released an updated box art for the game that Kojima’s name was omitted along with the Kojima Productions logo. Neither party has confirmed its falling out with one another, but it’s been confirmed that The Phantom Pain will be the last entry into the franchise directed by Hideo Kojima. Konami also said that it will be focusing on mobile games, but will continue providing support for the franchise.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain release date is scheduled for September 1st for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The PC version of the game will arrive on September 15. It was also announced by Nvidia that it will bundle The Phantom Pain along with most of its 900-series graphic cards like the GTX 980 Ti, 980, 970 and 960.
