LAHORE: With the aim to ensure halal meat for customers, the METRO Pakistan has joined hands with Punjab Mushhad Meat Corporation (PMMCO) to launch government-certified traceable halal red meat through 9211 SMS System, the first of its kind in the world.

The red meat will be slaughtered by the PMMCO slaughter house, manned by professional veterinary doctors and backed by foolproof, fail safe autonomic state of the art 9211 System, a customized solution by the Livestock Department Punjab. METRO is the first corporate retailer in Pakistan who has collaborated with Government of the Punjab for this sustainable initiative.

Commenting on this collaboration, Pervaiz Akhtar, Director Corporate Affairs & Company Secretary said, “The way the slaughtering process has been carried out is of significant importance for both human health and safety and quality of the meat. We at METRO have always provided our customers the hygienic food items and this collaboration with Government of Punjab is evident of our approach towards provision of quality products, making the METRO first entity to ensure 100 percent cold chain maintenance of slaughtered meat from the PMMCO’s slaughter house to the valuable consumers.”
