Mianwali ASO impounds non duty paid Toyota Corolla

MIANWALI: The Customs Collectorate Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has impounded a non duty paid Toyota car in black color. The market value of the impounded vehicle is Rs9,41,760 involving customs duty and taxes of Rs4,91,760.

Sources told Customs Today, that the ASO team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Javed Mehmood, Azhar Hussain Jafri, Amir Mumtaz Bajwa (inspectors), and Riasat Hussain, Ghulam Abbas, Sher Ahmad, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Yousaf (sepoys) during their routine checking, found a Toyota bearing registration no: KBI-14-132 model 1993 and automatic gear system and transmission near Civil Hospital Derya Khan district Bhakkar.

The ASO team asked accused from the possession of person who not informed his name and address. On demand driver has supplied the photo copy of registration book. He got examined the chassis number EE100-9555533 chemically on 22-06-2017 and verbally informed to FSL Islamabad Laboratory.

It has been confirmed from the chart of report that impounded vehicle is totally different and smuggled one. ASO team further examined the vehicle and found nothing available in it except bogus copy of registration book.

The ASO seized the vehicle under section 2(s), read with SRO.566(1)2005 section 16, and 18 of the Customs Act 1969 section 3 of Sales Tax Act 1990 and section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 and forward the case to Customs Adjudication department for legal action.
