Mianwali ASO impounds Toyota Corolla worth Rs 1.4

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Mianwali, has impounded a foreign origin used Toyota Corolla-X car worth Rs 1.471 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 771,186.

ASO Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received information regarding a non-duty paid vehicle on which he constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspector Azhar Hussain Jafri, Nazar Hussain Jaffri, and sepoys, including Riasat Hussain, Ahmed, Faiz Ahmed, and Saeed Rasool.

The staff intercepted a Toyota vehicle bearing Registration No FR-9 Chassis No NZE121-3393741 near Chesham Barrage District Mianwali. The officials confirmed the chassis number from PRAL office and received information that the said number is not in record. Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969.

Besides, the owner of the vehicle could not show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle. A case has been registered against the accused person.
