Mianwali ASO impounds Toyota Vitz worth Rs 1.1m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Vitz car worth Rs 1.124 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 574,117.

Following the instructions of Faisalabad Customs Deputy Collector Rana Falik Shair, the ASO team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Azhar Hussain Jafri, sepoys Sher Ahmad, Faiz Ahmad, Muzammal Hussaina and Riasat Hussain intercepted the vehicle bearing Registration No. TPB-0889 near Bhakkar.

The officials asked the driver named Abdula Sattar to show documents regarding the legal import and lawful possession of the vehicle but he failed to do the same.

Therefore, the vehicle was impounded under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969, Section 3 of Sales Tax Act, 1190 and Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 read with Section 3(1)3 of the Import and Export Control Act 1950.

A seizure report of the vehicle has been sent to the Customs Adjudication for legal action.
