FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has seized 19000 liters smuggled foreign origin diesel worth Rs3.3 million.
Sources told Customs Today that ASO also impounded Hino truck 6 wheeler worth Rs7 million under Section 157 of the Customs Act 1969.
Sources said that Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad received information regarding smuggling attempts on which he formed a team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Shoaib, Inspector Tanveerul Haq, Amer Mumtaz Bajwa Muhammad Akram.
The team intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration no: TKW-298 Quetta near Chandani Chowk M.M Alam Road district Bhakkar which was driven by Abdul Manan son of Muhammad Wazi.
The ASO team asked the suspect to produce documents regarding legal import of the diesel. He produced a copy of invoice no 97573545 dated 17-5-2019 issued by Pakistan State Oil Company Limited. The documents were examined and found that these are not relevant to the subject goods.
