Mianwali ASO seizes foreign origin smuggled raisin from MM Alam Road

MIANWALI: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization confiscated foreign origin raisin kishmish worth Rs2,094,000 during a crackdown at M.M. Road and impounded truck trailer being used for smuggling.

Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamadani received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of foreign origin smuggled and non-duty paid items.

He formed a team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Azhar Hussain Jafri, Muhammad Munawar Rathore, and Sepoy Muhammad Yousaf, Safdar Hussain Muhammad Abdullah, Faiz Ahmed and driver Riasat Hussain who participated in the action.

The ASO team intercepted a truck trailer bearing registration no: TLE-878 near Toll Plaza M M Alam Road and recovered the foreign origin 35865 kilogram Iranian origin raisin.

Prior to the recovery of raisin, the officials asked the driver Shah Mahmood to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items but he could not provide anything.

The team impounded the items under the Customs Act. A case was registered against the accused person. The case has been sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action. The ASO deposited the confiscated foreign origin raisin in Mianwali State Warehouse.
