Mianwali ASO seizes smuggled cigarettes

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Mianwali, has seized smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 100,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 211,893.

ASO Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan, after receiving information, made a team following the instructions of Collector Dr Zulfiqar to foil the smuggling bid.

The team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Muammad Sardar, Inspector Muhammad Mansha, Havaldar Mehmood Ul Hassan, and Sepoys Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Feroz and Muhammad Ziaul Hassan conducted raid and found boxes of cigarettes of different brands, including Milano.

The items were taken into the custom possession recovery memo was prepared in presence of two witnesses and a copy of the same was left with the police authority. The owner of foreign origin cigarettes has neither contacted in the office of Custom ASO nor produced any proof regarding its legal import.

Later, the seizure report was submitted to the adjudication department for further legal action after confiscating the cigarettes.
