Mianwali ASO seizes smuggled goods worth Rs1.1m near Sara-e-Muhajir

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has seized smuggled items worth Rs 1,69,550 involving customs duty and taxes amounting to Rs 2,27,224

Sources told to Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received information regarding some smuggling attempts on which he formed a team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Muhammad Mansha Muhammad Umar Bhatti, and sepoys Muhammad Feroz, Muhammad Anwar and Said Rasool.

The ASO team intercepted a container bearing registration no. MRKU-4808752, near Sara-e- Muhajir Chowk district Bhakkar and searched the vehicle.  During search the ASO team recovered multi purpose office paper, Delta tape , Rings files.

The ASO taem asked the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Abdullah Khan son of Ghulam Khan resident of Attock to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of loaded goods but he failed to show any relevant documents.

The ASO team after finding some discrepancies seized the goods  and the detention has been converted into proper Seizure under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
