Mianwali ASO seizes smuggled items during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has seized smuggled Royal milk, Rani ploat drink, Glass ball, and diaper worth Rs 31,60,089 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs747,924.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received information regarding smuggling attempts on which he formed a team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspector Muhammad Mansha and Muhammad Umar Bhatti, and Sepoys Muhammad Feroz, Muhammad Anwar, Said Rasool and others.

The team intercepted a Nissan trailer bearing registration no: TLH-892 near Saray-e-Mohajir Chowk district Bhakkar and recovered Royal milk, Rani ploat drink 346 liters, chewingum , glass ball, diaper.

During the course of checking the driver, Muhammad Ibrahim son of Shanshah produced a copy of Goods Declaration GDs in his defence and informed that the said goods were booked from Gul Golden Goods Transport Company Karachi against different truck bilities.

The goods were checked with the bilities and found irrelevant and prior to the production date of royal milk and others items. Therefore, all goods were taken into ms custody under section 16, 18 of the Customs Act 1969. The ASO team after finding some discrepancies seized the goods and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
