NEW YORK: Google has revealed that the Lollipop update on Android One smartphones is finally going to end in India. The update will be made available for all three Android One handsets – Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V, and Spice Dream Uno.
There is no word on an exact release date. Google hasn’t shared any change-log at this point, but the Lollipop on Android One phones will be same as the Nexus devices.
Users can expect to see UI improvements, material design changes, ART as default runtime, enhanced notifications, performance improvements, better battery life and more.
The first batch of Android One smartphones were released in September last year with Android 4.4.4 on-board. All phones sport the same specifications, which include 4.5-inch FWVGA display, quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 5MP rear camera.
The status of the Lollipop update for Android One phones in Nepal, Bangladesh and Sir Lanka is a mystery at this point, but it shouldn’t take long as mostly the same Android One phones are available in these countries.
