Micromax new tablet Canvas Tabby is specifically designed for kids

New Delhi: Micromax declared its entry into kids’ edutainment (shortened form of education and entertainment) segment. The new tablet, Micromax Canvas Tabby is specifically designed for kids and features a dual-use mode for both parent and kids. Currently, the device is priced at Rs 6,499.

In the parent-use mode, Canvas Tabby functions as a fully-functional Android Tablet. With just a touch, the Tabby switches to a kids-centric device. The content zone for kids feature over a 100 originally designed, pre-loaded applications and access to over 500 carefully curated videos under 3 domains namely,

Though the tablet offers dual mode, it gives parents a great control over the contents that should be accessible to their children. Accordingly, they can add or block specific content as per their own judgment and configure their child’s profile to access the most age-appropriate content – upto three distinct children profiles can be created on the Tabby.

Vineet Taneja, CEO, Micromax Informatics, said during the launch, “We are already well on our way to getting to a market leadership positioning in the tablet category with our portfolio of 7-and-8 inch tablets. We are now reinforcing our commitment to deepen tablet penetration in the country through the launch of this new offering we’re calling the Tabby, with which we also enter an exciting new consumer segment with a specialized offering.

Micromax tablet is powered by a 1.3 GHz processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM and runs on Android KitKat 4.4 OS. The Tabby also features a 7-inch display and a 2 megapixel rear camera and VGA front camera. It has a 3200mAh battery. Apart from the above, the Canvas Tabby bears 8GB of built-in storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).

The Micromax Canvas Tabby will be available from June 22 exclusively on Flipkart for a period of 3 weeks and will subsequently be available for sale in all online and retail channels.
