NEW DELHI: Micromax-backed Yu Televentures has decided the name of its next smartphone and it will be called Yu Yuphoria. Chosen after a crowd-sourced campaign, the new name was reportedly selected by the consumers over Yuknight, Yunicorn, Yunity, and Youth. The smartphone is code-named Project Caesar.
“The forthcoming Cyanogen powered device has already generated a lot of fanfare across social media platforms which resonated in the tremendous response received for #YUNameIt with more than 1,00,000 entries,” wrote Yu Televentures in a forum post.
Not many details are available about the smartphone so far, but it is expected to be launched sometime this month and will run on Android 5.0-based Cyanogen OS 12. The phone will also come with 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM and 64-bit processor (Snapdragon 410 likely), as revealed by the company in teasers.
Yu Yuphoria is likely sport a display of around 5-inches and will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 2, Huawei Honor 4X, Asus Zenfone C and Moto E (2nd Gen) in the Indian market.
To remind you, Yu Televentures already retails one smartphone in the country – Yureka, which is exclusive to Amazon India. Yuphoria is also expected be exclusive to one e-retailer.
