Minimization of import duties on raw material urged

LAHORE: Elimination or at least minimization of import duties on raw material through Tkorkham border in upcoming budget besides others are hoped to be met allowing carpet industry to heave a sigh of relief.

In this regard PCMEA meeting which was presided over by  Chairman Pervaiz Sajid. The meeting was attended  office-bearers of South and North Circles through video links, had the attendance of Carpet Training Institute chairperson Pervaiz Hanif, senior central leader Abdul Latif Malik, Saeed Khan, Akbar Malik, Maj (retd) Akthar Nazir, Danial Haneef, Faisal Saeed Khan and others.

Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) has resolved to participate Domo Tax exhibition being held in Germany and desired to hold 38th international carpet exhibition in Lahore following considerable fall in positivity rate of Covid-19.

With keeping the glimmer of hope high and showing confidence on the government sagacity, PCMEA expected that since association had apprised government officials of market hardships and industry dilemmas, set of demands regarding elimination or at least minimization of import duties on raw material through Tkorkham border in upcoming budget besides others are hoped to be met allowing carpet industry to heave a sigh of relief.

As COVID-19 morbidity rate is on decline and in case situation stays conducive, Last week of October or first week of November might be suitable time for holding 38th international carpet exhibition in Lahore, PCMEA said.
