ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications Anusha Rehman has directed the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) to work for the promotion of tech industry during the next five years and exceed IT exports target of $6 billion by 2020.
The Minister of State, issued the directives while chairing the 30th meeting of the PSEB’s Board of Directors. She said the reporting of IT exports needs to be improved because the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) remittance figures are below the actual exports of IT industry.
Anusha said that this hurts the perception of the size of the country’s IT industry with foreign customers and hence, IT companies need to improve their reporting to PSEB and SBP if they want Pakistan to be taken seriously as a major player in the global market.
