ISLAMABAD: Foreign investment and economic progress are linked with elimination of terrorism.

Minister for Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage, Senator Pervaiz Rashid said this in a meeting with a delegation of PML-N trade wing Lahore here. He said revival of economy was top priority of the government and it was doing its best to create a conducive and business friendly environment to ensure sustainable economic development.

Good governance and transparency are the hallmark of PML-N government as not a single case of corruption has surfaced in more than one and a half year of our tenure, the minister emphasized. The government inherited a weak economy, energy crisis and issue of terrorism from the previous regimes.

It was due to the efforts of the government that it succeeded to stabilize the currency, enhanced reserves and brought inflation from double to single digit. He said issues of terrorism, energy crisis and revival of the economy were our priority when we came to power and the government was working hard to resolve these issues.

The Prime Minister himself is chairing the meetings of energy committee and monitoring the implementation of National Action Plan to root out terrorism from the soil of the motherland. Senator Pervaiz Rashid told that the government was also taking practical steps to ensure the early completion of Daimir, Bhasha and Dassu dams and has succeeded to get assistance of international financial institutions in this regard. He said that outdated transmission lines are being updated and 24000 megawatt electricity will be added to national grid by the end of 2018. He said that Chinese $ 45 billion investment would also help Pakistan to get rid of energy crisis.
