Minister stopped to carry Pak currency abroad; mother, son held for smuggling heroin

LAHORE: The Pakistan Customs has stopped Provincial Minister for Housing Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari to carry Rs700000 with him to Jeddah on Wednesday.

According to sources of Customs Today, the minister was travelling for Jeddah to perform the Umrah. He was carrying Rs700000 in his luggage. The minister was informed by the customs that he can take this amount with him in form of dollars or Saudi Riyals. Then he got his currency changed from the airport into the Dollars and Saudi Riyals.

It is pertinent to mention here that nobody can carry more than 3,000 Pakistani Currency to a foreign country. A Pakistani national can carry 10,000 dollars to any foreign country.

Meanwhile, the ANF arrested a mother and her son on Wednesday from Lahore airport for smuggling one kilogram heroin. Heroin was hidden in a secret portion of the bag of the son identified as Naeem.

The passengers were travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
