MIRPURKHAS: Municipal Committee Chairman Farooq Jameel Durrani, vowing to make Mirpurkhas a model city, Tuesday said concrete steps would be taken for improvement of sanitation, sewerage, water supply and other civic facilities.
Addressing the median meeting of newly elected municipal committee here, he said that municipal services, in consultation with council members, would be stream lined while measures would also be taken to control the financial crisis by enhancing recovery of taxes.
He further said that repair of defective vehicles and machinery in minimum expensive, construction of roads, drains, parks and installation of lights in play grounds and other development works were among their top priorities.
The chairman said that 201 sweepers were insufficient for a city of more than 0.8 million of people while 67 of them were Muslims who were not performing their duties but their service must be utilized for the betterment of people of the city.
He said that he would request the chief minister for an impartial inquiry against the corrupt officials of the municipal committee. He urged the media persons to highlight the corruption issues with responsibility.
