Mis-declaration: Customs Court adjourns hearing of case filed against M/s Dua Enterprises

KARACHI: Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has adjourned the hearing of a case filed against suspect namely Rana Imtiaz Ashraf of M/s Dua Enterprises in a mis-declaration case.

Earlier, counsel for the suspect appeared before the court and moved a bail application. He argued that his client is innocent and was falsely implicated in this case, who is ready to face trail, therefore, the court may grant him bail till final order of this case.

After the arguments, the court had granted him bail and issued notices to the special prosecutor of the customs department, investigation officer, directing them to file comments on the next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered against Rana Imtiaz Ashraf of M/s Dua Enterprises, Muhammad Pervaiz Bahir, directors of M/s Friend Logistics Private Limited, Muhammad Bilal, Umar Shinwary and others for violation of under section 2 (s) 16, 32 (1) (12) and 192 of the Customs Act 1969 punishable under clauses 8, 14, 63, 86 and 89 ibid read with SRO 566 (1)/2005 dated 06/06/2005 and section 3 (3) of the import and export control act, 1950 read with serial no 23 & 24 of appendix-A of import policy and further read with section 148 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
