Mis-declaration: Customs Court seeks progress report against M/s Moon Star International, M/s Roshan Star Traders & others

KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit progress report against owners/ directors/partners of M/s Moon Star International, owners/ directors/ partners of M/s Roshan Star Traders, owners/ directors/ partners of M/s Pukhraj Traders and others, who were nominated in first information report for illegal removal of dutiable in-bonded goods from customs bonded warehouse without filing of ex-bond goods declaration and payment of duties and taxes.

On 9 February 2021, investigation officer submitted that an information was received that M/s S.S Enterprises and other importers of fabric are engaged in the illegal removal from dutiable bonded goods from customs bonded warehouse of M/s Hecotax Customs Bonded warehouse with the active connivance of other associates-in-crime.

He further informed the court that in order to verify the veracity of said information, the data of aforesaid importers were searched out from the customs computerized system which revealed that the huge quantity of foreign origin assorted fabric was imported by the aforesaid importers through MCC Appraisement West and East, Karachi against into bond GDs for M/s Hecotax Customs Bonded Warehouse, Karachi.

He argued that during the investigation, it was revealed that above mentioned importers and accused persons are involved in the illegal removal and replacement of dutiable foreign origin assorted fabric without payment of leviable amount of duty and taxes, which cleared from MCC Appraisement West and East, Karachi which caused the heavy loss of revenue to the public exchequer to the tune for Rs. 201,300,257.

He stated that the role of the customs staff of the clearance collectorate MCC Appraisement West/ East Karachi, customs bonded warehouse, clearing agents and other associates-in-crime will be determined during the course of investigation.
