KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Port Mohammad Bin Qasim (PMBQ) has registered an FIR against M/s Turab Industries and M/s Unique Enterprises for mis-declaration of description, quantity and quality to evade the duties and taxes.
Sources told that information was passed through Collector Fayyaz Rasool to Additional Director Riaz Hasan that M/s Turab Industries and their clearing agent M/s Unique Enterprises are clearing high value goods under the guise of printed misprinted de-shaped damaged plastic waste and plastic transparent film.
M/s Turab Industries electronically filed Goods Declaration (GD) through their clearing agent, M/S Unique Enterprises for the import of consignment declared to contain end core paper waste, plastic transparent film in roll, printed/mis-printed, de-shaped damaged paper waste of all sorts, wastepaper over issued magazine brochure waste, printed/mis-printed, de-shape damage alum foil poly backing waste, printed/mis-printed, de-shape damage plastic waste, at a declared invoice worth USD$2700.
The importer determined his liability of payment of applicable duties & taxes and sought clearance.
Despite obtaining approval, the M/s Turab Enterprises and clearing agent M/s Unique Enterprises mis-declared the description quantity and quality of the goods in order to willfully evade the duty/taxes worth Rs5.5439 million.
During detailed examination it was found the said importer, in connivance with the clearing agent, has already got cleared 8 Goods Declaration with the similar declared description since January 2024.
Furthermore, during the course of examination, it transpired that out of seventy seven (77) rolls of BOPP Film (standard), twenty five (25) rolls are found with marks/cuts of fork lifter blade which are of standard quality and seventeen (17) rolls are found to be not scrap.
An FIR is registered against the importer and their clearing agent and further investigations are still in preogress till filing of this report.
