During processing of GD by Customs staff, the importer submitted a letter for cancellation of GD on account of misdirection, being a “frustrated cargo”.

However, the good declaration was already blocked by CIU Section. Collector Fayyaz Rasool had the information regarding mis-declaration and directed Deputy Collector Usama Al-Tahiri to put hold on the consignment.

Another consignment of this importer lying unclaimed, which is also put on hold.

In order to confirm the veracity of the information, samples were sent to the Customs Laboratory, Port Qasim, for confirmation of actual description. The laboratory confirmed that the goods are “Cellulose Acetate Tow” which attracts FED of Rs44,000/Kg under the Federal Excise Act, 2005.

It has been clearly established that the importer M/s. Green Cycle Enterprises is involved in gross mis-declaration by attempting to clear Acetate Tow under the garb of Acrylic Tow. An FIR is lodged and investigations are still under way.

Collector Fayyaz Rasool has also directed to investigate clearing agent M/s S.H Enterprises, which is known to be the mastermind of the scam. Name of the clearing agent M/s S.H Enterprises will be included in the Challan and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
