Mis-declaration: Customs PMBQ registers FIR against M/s Arsalan Traders

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Port Mohammad Bin Qasim (PMBQ) registered first information report (FIR) against investor who obtained NOC from Export Processing Zone Authority for import of a consignment.

Sources said. that M/s. Ahsan Traders filed Goods Declaration on behalf of the importer declaring thereby the description of goods as “Rejected Plastic Rolls Waste Assorted sizes and microns” valued at $3,366.6 assessable under HS Code 3915.9000. The importer determined his liability.

Consequent upon landing of the aforementioned container and its transportation to the Export Processing Zone, on the directives of Collector Muhammad Amir Thaheem to Additional Collector Muhammad Qasim Khokhar, Deputy Collector EPZ Amjad Aman Laghari carried out physical examination of the container to verify the authenticity of declaration made on the face of Goods Declaration.

Accordingly, 100 percent examination of the consignment waa conducted which resulted in the recovery of CTCP Printing Plates assorted instead of the goods declared on the face of Goods Declaration i.e Rejected Plastic Rolls Waste Assorted sizes and microns for further processing.

After completion of physical examination the recovered goods being liable to confiscation were seized. It is established from the physical examination of the impugned consignment that EPZ investor with the active connivance and abetment of their clearing agent M/s. Ahsan Traders knowingly & willfully attempted to evade the chargeable duty & taxes to the tune of Rs9.459 million.

An FIR is registered and further proceedings are in progress till the filing of this report.
