Mis-declaration: Customs Port Qasim recovers taxes, penalty from M/s Adnan Construction Company

KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate Port Muhammad Bin Qasim has recovered Rs 700,000, including taxes and penalty from M/s Adnan Construction Company.

Sources told Customs Today that M/s Adnan Construction Company imported asphalt plant from Korea. The plant was 142 tons, however, the company found involved in mis-declaration during scrutiny of weight. The company misled authorities by showing less weight and tried to deprive the national exchequer by Rs 700,000.

Sources said that on the basis of credible information Collector Port Qasim Saeed Akram directed Additional Collector Khalil Yousafani and Additional Collector Yasir Murtaza to check consignment which is imported from Korea.

The customs team comprising Principal Appraiser Khalid Umer, Appraising Officer Rana Ansram Rabbani which was headed by Deputy Collector Ahsanullah Shah inspected the plant.

During the inspection, the team found that M/s Adnan Construction Company showed less weight of the plant in order to evade taxes but CIU department of Port Qasim Collectorate detected the tax evasion attempt and received Rs 700,000, including taxes and penalty from the company.
