Missing goods: Collector Saifuddin orders audit of auctions

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has unearthed a ‘unique’ scam as thousands of mobiles phones were found missing from the Gerry’s Dnata shed at Karachi airport.

Collector Preventive Saifuddin Junejo has also ordered audit of auctions held at the Karachi airport auction area.

Sources said that some that several boxes and cartons were found emptied before auction. Sources said the practice is suspected to be going on for years.

The Collector Preventive has also ordered investigations into the conduct of Gerry’s Dnata shed as some of the cameras at the shed were non-operational and there is inefficient light at the shed.

The Customs’ intelligence wing has already lodged and FIR against Al-Amna Trading Company Saddar and other for their illegal bid to remove mobile phones from Gerry’s Dnata shed at Karachi airport.
