LONDON: Mitsubishi has teased its facelifted Outlander SUV, which will debut at New York Motor Show in this year. Although the teaser images have been dimmed, brightening them up gives a better look at what we can expect from the new-look Outlander. A more aggressive front-end has been achieved with a restyled chrome grille, inspired by the XR PHEV II concept seen at Geneva. Smarter headlamps also feature, while at the rear new tail-lights and a reshaped bumper can be seen.
The Outlander has found most favour in the UK in PHEV plug-in hybrid format, and its likely this all-wheel drive petrol-electric powertrain will survived unscathed in the revised car with only a few minor updates to improve battery range and economy. The 150bhp diesel engine should get some efficiency tweaks, too.
Chassis revisions should include revised spring and damper rates to improve ride quality over the current car, while handling should also be improved. We’ll have the full details when our reporters head to New York at the start of next month.
