LAHORE: Tussle between the Federal Revenue Alliance Employees Union and FBR Regional Tax Office I Lahore chief commissioner will be settled down soon as a Member National Assembly is mediating between them.

Sources said that MNA Pervaiz Malik was assigned the task to resolve the matter between the union and the chief commissioner. They added Pervaiz was in contact with FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa to bring both the parties on table for negotiations. Pervaiz has the view that both union members and high ups of department were parts of family that could not be separated, the sources said.

FRAEU Lahore President Naeem Shah said that Chief Commissioner has lodged FIRs against the union members and police arrested them. Moreover, 13 employees of FBR have been suspended by the department on basis of different charges and charge sheets have been given to the suspended employees, he said.

When asked about bone of contention, Shah said that union wanted to organise a condolence reference for the martyrs of Peshawar attack on December 24, 2014 but the same day police was deployed to restrain the employees by the authorities of RTO-I Lahore chief commissioner and almost 13 union members/employees were arrested the same day.

He further said FRAEU was voice of lower class employees and always raised voice for the rights of employees as it was registered CBA union. He further added that they did not have any enmity with the high ups as we all were members of FBR family. The union did not demand for the benefit of a single person but for whole employees, he said.

Shah also said that the union had written letters regarding the promotions of lower staff and for the rights of employees like medical facilities etc to authorities but it all went in vain. He said chief commissioner was not here only to achieve the revenue target but also for facilitating the staff. The chief should also fight for the rights of employees as he was head of the RTO-I family, he held.

The FRAEU Lahore president said that they had decided to protest against the authorities all over the country but MNA Prevaiz Malik has stopped us from doing so by giving surety of peaceful resolution of the matter.
