Mobile phone import up by 7.95% to $242.45m in Q1

ISLAMABAD: The mobile phone import in to the country surged by 7.95 per cent in first four months (July-October) of ongoing financial year as compared to same period of last year.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the imports during the period under review were recorded $242.451 million as compared to that of $224.594 million last year.

On month of month and year on year basis, the mobile phone imports in October increased by 18.77 percent and 3.13 percent when compared with the import of October 2014 and September 2015 respectively.

The imports in October were increased from $58.596 million in October 2014 and $67.481 million in September 2015 to $69.592 million in October 2015. It may be mentioned here that the country’s overall imports declined by 12.89 percent during the period July©October, 2015©16 as compared to same period of last year.

The overall imports during the period under review stood at $14.56 billion while during same period of last year the imports were recorded at $16.713 billion.
