Mobile phone imports up 13.06% to $540m in 9 months

ISLAMABAD: The cellphone imports into the country have surged by 13.06 per cent to $539.583 million during first nine months of 2014-15 as compared to $477.255 million in the same period last year.

According to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), in March 2015, the cellphone imports increased to $73.929m from $73.161m in the preceding month. In the same month last year, the imports stood at $44.822m. Overall telecom imports also increased by 14.7pc to $1.071bn during July-March period of 2014-15 from $933.543m in the same period of last year.
