Mobile phone imports up by 7.68% in 8 months

ISLAMABAD: The mobile phone imports into the country increased by 7.68 percent during first eight months of the year 2014-15 over the same period of last year.

The imports of mobile phones into the country during July-February (2014-15) were recorded at $465.658 million against the imports of $432.433 million during same period of last year, according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The mobile phone imports during February 2015 stood at $73.161 million against the imports of $56.882 million in February 2014 and $44.933 million in January 2015, the data revealed.

The imports of telecom into the country during first eight months of current fiscal year were recorded at $961.965 million against the imports of $833.399 million in July-February 2014-15.

On month on month basis, the telecom imports during February 2015 increased by 7.59 per cent and 21.87 percent when compared to that of February 2014 and January 2015 respectively.

Overall telecom imports during February 2015 stood at $115.454 million against the imports of $107.311 million in February 2014 and $95.378 million in January 2015.
