Mobile phones imports surge by 7.68% to $465.658m in July-Feb

ISLAMABAD: The cellphones imports into the country have witnessed 7.68 per cent growth and reached $465.658 million during the first eight months (July-Feb) of 2014-15.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data, the cellphones imports in the corresponding period of last year were recorded $432.433m. In February, the imports increased by 28.61pc to $73.161m against $56.882m in Feb 2014, and by 62.82pc when compared to $44.933m in Jan 2015.

The overall telecom imports also increased by 15.43pc to $961.965m during the period under review as compared to $833.399m in July-Feb, 2013-14. In February, the telecom imports increased by 7.59pc to $115.454m against $107.311m in Feb 2014, and by 21.05pc when compared to $95.378m in Jan 2015.
