KARACHI: Pakistan’s one of the biggest and oldest cellular companies, Mobilink, has posted 7 per cent growth on its YoY revenue in third quarter of current calendar year.

Recently declared as the best 3G service of Pakistan by PTA, Mobilink’s ascent was driven by a data revenue growth of 78pc YoY and a higher Mobile Financial Services (MFS) YoY revenue increase of 61pc.

The growth in MFS revenue which represented 2.7pc of service revenue by the end of 3Q15 is a result of strategic expansion in retail footprint and promotion of MFS retailers. Mobilink strengthened its leading market position during the third quarter, following QoQ gains in both customer and revenue market share. This growth follows Mobilink’s successful completion of the SIM re-verification process in 1H15, in which the Company managed to verify 87pc of customers and secure 99pc of revenue.

As a results of this process however, the customer base decreased 9pc YoY to 35.2 million in 3Q15, as 5.6 million customers were blocked in 2Q15. Mobilink also showed a substantial YoY growth of 25.6pc in EBITDA which can be attributed to the growth of its data and MFS segments.
