More than 50 power projects in progress

MULTAN: The government has started more than 50 energy projects in progress to overcome the prevailing power crisis in the country.

According to the Pakistan Electric Power Company sources, 35.2 percent power is generated from oil, 29.9 percent from hydel, 29 percent from gas and nearly 6 percent from other sources.

The official source informed that work on the projects, including Tharparkara Islamkot-(100 megawatt), Arifwala (163 MW), Bahadar Shah Jhang (1000 MW), Baloki (1000-1200 MW), Jamshuru (600 MW), Karachi (660 MW), Muzaffargarh (120 MW), Sahiwal (1320 MW), Port Qasim (1320 MW), Hab (1320 MW), Neelam Jehlam (969 MW), Chitral (106 MW), Abbotabad (147 MW), Dia Mir Basha (4500 MW), Kohistan (128 MW), Dadu (4.2 MW), Chashma Mianwali (14.4 MW), Gilgat (16 MW), Kohistan Dasodam (4320 MW), Taunsa (120 MW), were in progress at different parts of the country.
