M/s AGP deposits Rs 219,448 evaded taxes after PCA audit observation

KARACHI: In response to the audit observation served by the Customs Post Clearance Audit, Karachi Directorate, M/s AGP (Private) Limited has deposited Rs 219,448 short-paid/evaded taxes in the national kitty.

According to sources, during audit of the imports of “Sorbitol 70% Solution”, it has been observed that M/s. AGP (Private) Limited imported the same from India under PCT heading 3824.6000 cleared through MCC Appraisement (East), Custom House, Karachi, without payment of anti-dumping duty at the rate of 16.97% levied w.e.f. 25.08.2015 vide National Tariff Commission’s letter No. A.D.C 32/2015/NTC/SB/770 dated 24.08.2015,

An audit observation was accordingly issued to the importer for payment of short paid / evaded amount of Rs. 208,007/- on account of anti-dumping duty and Rs 11,441/- in consequent income tax, totaling Rs 219,448/-.

The importer, in response to the audit observation, has deposited the amount of duty/taxes mentioned therein. The PCA directorate has informed the Customs Collectorate Appraisement East for further action.
