SHC moved against officials for taking away office equipment

KARACHI: Sadiq Sayani, proprietor of M/s Arc Point Technologies, has moved the Sindh High Court (SHC) against alleged raid on his premises by officials of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation and taking away the company equipment.

In his constitutional petition, counsel for the petitioner stated that the officials raided the petitioner’s business place along with three arm guards on January 24, 2017 and harassed the staff members, including lift operator and women.

The counsel further informed the court that the alleged team took into custody all the relevant data consisting 28 articles, including server, monitors, keyboards and even connecting cables. The officials demanded Rs 15 million under the head of sales tax, threatening to arrest the proprietor and put him in jail.

Citing Sectary Ministry of Finance, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-FBR as respondents, the petitioner pleaded the court to declare the act of the said officials as illegal, mala fide and arbitrary and court may direct the respondents to return the all articles immediately.
