M/s Bin Qasim Packages deposits evaded taxes, duties in response to PCA’s audit observation

KARACHI: In response to the audit observation issued by the Customs’ Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Karachi, M/s Bin Qasim Packages (Private) Limited has paid over Rs 0.6 million evaded taxes/duties to the national kitty.

According to sources, during the scrutiny of import data of coated calcium carbonate under PCT Heading 3824.9094 and 3824.9099, it was observed that certain grades of coated/treated calcium carbonate (in granular form consisting essentially of calcium carbonate dispersed in polyethylene plastic medium having percentage of calcium carbonate 80 percent and plastic medium 20 percent) falling under PCT heading 3824.9099 were cleared by the importers by misdeclaration.

Accordingly, Directorate of Post Clearance Audit Karachi issued an audit observation to 14 importers including M/s Bin Qasim Packages Pvt Ltd Karachi. The importer, in response, to the audit observation has deposited the amount of duty/taxes.

The PCA authorities have forwarded the same to the Collector,Customs Appraisement West, Custom House Karachi.
