M/s Zain Enterprises ordered to pay tax & duty evaded thru mis-declaration

ISLAMABAD: Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Islamabad Imran Ahmed Ch. has directed Importer M/s Zain Enterprises to pay the tax and duty evaded through mis-declaration which is Rs1.207million for violation of Section32 (1) and (2) of the Customs Act-1969. Additional Collector has passed the Order-In-Original No 8 of 2017 in seizure case 79/2016 against Importer M/s Zain Enterprises 50, Aurangzaib Block, New Garden Town Lahore.

Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation FBR Rawalpindi made a case against Importer M/s Zain Enterprises on the charges that company is involved in evasion of huge duty and taxes by means of mis-declaration of value on account of suppression of the freight charges. The GD No: RPAF-HC-8188 filed by the importer at Air Freight Unit, BBI Airport Islamabad, was blocked at Gate-out stage. Additional collector has said in ONO that no documentary proof regarding the mode of payment of actual freight has been produced by the importer.

The airlines are bound by IATA. MAWB has no legal value. The reasons of their issuance have not been explained by Importer. The importer also failed to show actual payment receipt of freight.
