MTBA newly elected office-bears takes oath

MULTAN: The Multan Tax Bar Association (MTBA) recently convened its annual conference at a local hotel, marked by a swearing-in ceremony and an evening dinner. Presiding over the event were the esteemed President of the Tax Bar Association, Khadim Hussain Metla, and the stage secretary duties were efficiently carried out by Muhammad Imran Ghazi.

During the ceremony, General Secretary MTBA Muhammad Imran Ghazi provided a comprehensive overview of the association’s performance throughout the year, addressing concerns raised by its members. Consensus was achieved on reducing fees for life membership and special funds, enhancing the association’s accessibility and inclusivity.

Following the presentation of the annual performance report of MTBA, Raja Ejaz Ahmed Kiyani, Chairman of the Election Commission, announced the election results for the term 2024-25. The newly elected officials include Mr. Abdul Sattar as President, Raja Amjad Ahmed Kiyani as Vice President, Muhammad Imran Ghazi as General Secretary, Kanwar Tanveer Anjam as Joint Secretary, Madam Fouzia Malik as Finance Secretary, Atiq Anwar as Library Secretary, and Na’eem Zafer, Nasiruddin Hamayun, Muhammad Fayyaz Khokhar, and Hamad Asad as Executive Members.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Mian Abdul Basit, a Judicial Member of the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue, administered the oath to the newly elected officials. In their addresses, President Mian Abdul Sattar and General Secretary Muhammad Imran Ghazi expressed gratitude for the members’ trust and highlighted the challenges faced by the country, emphasizing the importance of protecting taxpayers’ rights and combating tax evasion and corruption.

Guest of honor President of the High Court Bar Multan Sajjad Haider Maitla, extended congratulations to the newly elected officials, assuring them of the High Court Bar’s full support. Special guest Pir Imran Akram Bodla, Chairman Executive Committee Punjab Bar Council, reiterated the longstanding demand for legal recognition of all tax bars in Pakistan, emphasizing the need for legislative action in this regard.

Special guest Mian Abdul Basit, a Judicial Member of the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue, commended the previous executive body of the Multan Tax Bar and congratulated the newly elected officials, pledging continued support for the association. The event was attended by a large number of members, including prominent figures such as Muhammad Zulfiqar Khokhar, Muhammad Yunus Ghazi, Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, Farasat Ali Bhatti, and other distinguished guests.

The comprehensive event underscored the Multan Tax Bar Association’s commitment to serving its members and advocating for their interests in the realm of taxation and legal affairs.
