SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) will release the Economic Survey of Singapore for the third quarter of this year on Wednesday, Nov 25, at 8:00 am.

The report will include information and data on the overall gross domestic product (GDP) performance of the economy, sectoral performance, sources of growth, inflation, employment and productivity in the July to September period.

The press release will be available on the websites of MTI (http://www.mti.gov.sg), the Singapore Department of Statistics (http://www.singstat.gov.sg) and the SG Press Centre (http://www.news.gov.sg). The full report will also be available on MTI’s website.

MTI’s flash estimate last month showed that Singapore only very narrowly missed slipping into a technical recession in the third quarter with the economy growing just 0.1 per cent quarter-on-quarter. But economists reckon that manufacturing likely contracted at a sharper pace in the quarter than the flash estimates implied. They also say that weak global trade volumes and strict foreign labour policies may cause MTI to downgrade its current forecast of 2 per cent to 2.5 per cent GDP growth for this year.
