Multan Adjudication concluding hearing of seizure cases & avoiding unnecessary delays: Deputy Collector Moeed Kanjoo

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office is delivering speedy justice through concluding seizure cases despite Covid-19 and facilitating them as per law.

This was stated by Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Abdul Mueed Kanjoo while talking with Customs Today other day.

He stated that global pandemic Covid-19 has affected regular hearing of seizure cases in Customs Adjudication due to lockdown. Customs Adjudication has devised effective strategy to precede under trial seizure cases after Covid-19 situation.

Deputy Collector Abdul Mueed Kanjoo has decided the highest number of seizure cases worth Rs203.635 million in the previous whole economic year after concluding of proceedings of the seizure cases in the Adjudication Customs.

Deputy Collector finalized 303 seizure cases in the fiscal year 2019-20. As many as 35 seizure cases of Rs20.305 million are still pending in the Customs Adjudication and these cases were delayed due to lockdown and cancellation of hearings due pandemic of Covid-19.

Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office is disposing seizure cases on merit through fair trials after solid evidences. Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office has shown exceptional performance by disposing record number of seizure cases after completion of legal trial in the economic year 2019-20. He said that Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office has discouraged the respondents and their legal consultants for taking unnecessary adjudicating time for hearing of seizure cases during trial.

Customs Adjudication Multan is disposing all seizure cases speedily on merit to provide quick justice through transparent hearing and discouraged unnecessary delay in the seizure cases.

He said that Custom Adjudication is making every effort to dispose seizure cases before the bounded period of seizure and I decided all seizure cases within the assigned period after assuming my responsibility.

He said that speedy trial of seizure cases benefits taxpayers by saving valuable time, money and energy. Collectorate of Customs Adjudication is one of the most important collectorate for generation of revenue in Customs and field offices were well aware of their responsibilities and providing invaluable technical assistance to their high-ups through speedy disposal of seizure cases.

He said Customs Adjudication is giving maximum output with its limited resources. Customs Adjudication is one of the revenue generating departments for the Customs and Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office has provided handsome revenue to the Collectorate which assists them in accomplishing their set revenue task.

Customs Adjudication is working efficiently to provide speedy justice through transparent hearing and discouraged unnecessary delays in the seizure cases.
