Multan Adjudication decides 389 seizure cases of Rs702.141m in FY-2015-2016

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Multan decided 389 smuggling cases worth Rs 702.141 million during financial year 2015-16.

According to details, Customs Adjudication Multan has done speedy justice by disposing of the highest number of seizure cases after completion of their hearing. There were total 266 seizure cases worth Rs 103.220 million finalized by the Deputy Collector Farhat Ali after their hearing during the financial year 2015-16.

Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Fayaz Anwar has issued final Order–in–Original (ONO) of 104 seizure cases worth Rs193.170 million for the duration of fiscal year 2015-16.

Collector Customs Adjudication Raja Tahir Majeed has decided 19 different tax evasion cases of value Rs.405.751 million after conclusion during the fiscal year 2015-16.

Customs Adjudication has decided few tax evasion cases in the favour of tax payer after collection of duty taxes but majority of seizure cases were finalized in the favour of Customs department.

The tax evasion seizure cases and contraventions were formed by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) and audit branch of the Multan Customs.

The Customs Adjudication Multan has also 66 different pending seizure cases of Rs.130.374 million from last fiscal year 2015-16.. More than 63 various seizure cases are pending from last three months for hearing in the Customs Adjudication Multan.

Customs Adjudication Multan have admitted 34 fresh seizure cases of Rs37.377 million during the month of June which are under adjudication and in most of fresh cases show-cause notices to the respondents and offenders have been issued.

Customs Adjudication Multan has 96 smuggling cases of Rs167.116 million available for their trial .Most of the cases are available for hearing at the Additional Collector Customs Adjudication.

Almost 43 seizure cases of worth Rs.76.452 million are available for trial in the court of Additional Collector and 41 cases of value Rs21.856 million are available to Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication for hearing . Collector Customs Adjudication has only 12 various cases of Rs68.808 million available for hearing now.

The main reasons of the pending cases available in the Customs Adjudication Multan is due to unnecessary delay from respondents and counsels of the accused parties  during the trial of their seizure cases otherwise Customs Adjudication is disposing cases speedily on merit to deliver speedy justice.
