Multan Adjudication declares confiscation of foreign origin cloth legal

MULTAN: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector declared confiscation of 3820 kilograms foreign origin cloth lawful and ordered to release the cloth after the trial.

According to details, Customs Intelligence and Investigation intercepted a container loaded with a huge quantity of foreign origin cloth from Sadiqabad region. Customs Intelligence and Investigation team de-stuffed the container coming from Karachi after clearance and they found discrepancies in the presented GDs of importer M/s Tawakal Traders during physical verification of loaded cloth.

Customs Intelligence framed the seizure report against the detained cloth container and forwarded the same to Customs Adjudication for legal proceedings. Additional Collector Adjudication Talib Hussain conducted the trial of the foreign origin cloth. Customs Adjudication formed special a fact finding committee to present the report after examination of the container in presence of owner and forward comprehensive report against seized cloth.

Customs Intelligence found 3820 kilograms smuggled foreign origin cloth during verification and found remaining cloth of 11480 kilograms legal as per presented GDs during the investigation. Owner Muhammad Arshad failed to present any evidence of 3820 kilograms cloth during legal proceedings in the Customs Adjudication.

Additional Collector Talib Hussain issued Order-in-Original (ON) for the confiscation of smuggled cloth under Section 156(1)89 of the Customs Act, 1969.
