Multan Adjudication issues show-cause notice to owner of Mercedes Benz truck

MULTAN: Collector Customs Adjudication Asif Abbas Khan Buzdar issued a show-cause notice to the owner of Mercedes Benz truck worth Rs4.45 million.

Sources told Customs Today, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a non-duty paid foreign origin Mercedes Benz truck 10 wheeler bearing registration no: TKY-344-Quetta1982 Model involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs4.45 million. Anti-Smuggling Organization teams took action on pursuance of information received by Collector Customs Faisalabad and intercepted suspicious vehicle near Khushab road District Sargodha.

Customs teams took Mercedes Benz Truck 10 wheeler from the possession of owner Noorza Ali Khan s/o Zarbab Khan Resident of Azam Warsik district Waziristan in their action and detained it.

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team demanded from owner Noorza Ali Khan to produce legal documents of the said truck for verification and owner submitted written statement to Customs teams that intercepted truck body was replaced by newly smuggled body of model 2007 upon the old chassis number of truck. Owner requested Customs teams for early release of said truck on the payment of duty and taxes on the changed cabin

It was also alleged that owner has arranged the smuggled body /cabin of the vehicle model 2007 and affixed the chassis number of old truck .Therefore the detention converted into proper seizure under section 168 of the Customs act 1969 for violation of section 2(s) with SRO 566(I)/2005.

Collector Customs Adjudication Asif Khan Buzdar issued show–cause notice to owner of the said vehicle and directed him to submit reply of notice within 10 days for further proceedings.
