Multan Adjudication issues show cause notice to owner of NDP cloth owner

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication has issued show cause notice to the owner of non-duty paid cloth seized by Customs Intelligence and Investigation.

According to details, Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized huge quantity of foreign origin shafoon cloth from private warehouse near Gai Soap Sargodha Road on the credible information from source. Said cloths were stored at the premises of Al Hamra Godown.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation field staff took the search warrant from magistrate and raided the godown along with local police station. During examination foreign origin shafoon cloth as well as local manufactured fabric was found in the premises of the godown.

Customs teams recovered shafoon cloth of 8100 lilograms which were packed in bags other cloths in bundles of 31750 kilograms from premises during examination.  Customs Intelligence detained said foreign cloths under section 26 of the customs act 1969.

Customs Intelligence found that foreign origin bags were labeled as Muhammad Afghan Ltd. Afghanistan from Cresent Exim India pasted on bags. Customs Intelligence asked the warehouse employees for producing legal documents of said foreign origin cloths.

Customs seized the foreign origin shafoon cloths upon failure of presenting any satisfactory documentary evidence regarding legal import and framed the seizure against 39850 kilograms shafoon cloths. Owner was alleged that seized shafoon cloth was smuggled one and brought in the country by evading government dues.

Collector Customs Adjudication issued show-cause notice to owner Rashid Mehmood of M/s Al-Hamra Fabrics (Pvt) Ltd for violation of section 2(s), 16 and 18 of the Customs act 1969 along with SRO  499(2009) and directed him to submit reply of notice within 10 days for further proceedings.
