Multan Adjudication seeks vehicle’s custody from Customs I&I

MULTAN: Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Talib Hussain has said that Multan Customs and Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation authorities should handover possession of all confiscated vehicles to Customs Adjudication.

Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Talib Hussain has observed during the hearing of seized vehicles cases that provisions of Section 182 of the Customs Act 1969 are not being implemented in the true letter and spirit by Customs Collectorate Multan and Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation.

The Customs Collectorate Multan and Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation never entrusted the possession of confiscation goods to the officers who orders confiscation of non-customs paid vehicles after trial. Multan Customs and Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation are holding the possession of confiscated vehicles after their final decision of confiscation out rightly.

According to section 182 of the Customs act describes that when any goods or vehicles are confiscated by Customs Adjudication after trial under this act then they shall forthwith vest in the (Federal Government) and the officer who order confiscation shall take and hold the possession.

he Federal Board of Revenue may authorise the use of confiscated vehicles for operational purposes for the Board or with approval of the Board, its subordinate offices.

These provided confiscated vehicles are never handed over to Adjudication Officer after their conclusion of confiscation.

On the other hand, Multan Customs and Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation hold the possession of confiscated vehicles.

Additional Collector Talib Hussain has emphasized the Customs Collectorate Multan and Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation to implement Section 182 of the Customs Act 1969.

Additional Collector Talib Hussain requested the Collectorate of Customs and Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation to nominate a focal person who handed over possession of confiscated vehicles to Customs Adjudication for implementation of Section 182 in future.
