Multan Adjudication showing outstanding performance despite shortage of staff: Deputy Collector Abdul Mueed Kanjoo

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office has performed exceptionally well by disposing record number of seizure cases and delivered speedy justice to respondent’s despite Covid-19 third wave and shortage of staff.

This was stated by Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Abdul Mueed Kanjoo while talking exclusively to Customs Today on other day.

Deputy Collector Moeed Kanjoo has said that global pandemic Covid-19 has affected every segment of life including routine working of Customs Adjudication. Despite  Covid -19 Multan Adjudication has conducted regular hearing of seizure cases for timely disposal due to lockdown. Customs Adjudication has devised effective strategy to precede under trial seizure cases after Covid-19 situation. Collectorate of Customs Adjudication has adopted strict precautionary measures to contain third wave of Covid-19 and following standard operating procedure against recent wave of Covid-19. Customs Adjudication is working competently to provide speedy justice through transparent hearing and discouraged unnecessary delay in the seizure cases.

Deputy Collector Abdul Mueed Kanjoo has decided the 315 various seizure cases of Rs196.742 million in the whole economic year 2020-21 after completion of proceedings of the seizure cases in the Customs Adjudication. While Customs Adjudication finalized almost 303 seizure cases in the fiscal year 2019-20.

Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office is disposing seizure cases on merit through fair trial of presented evidences. Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office has shown exceptional performance by disposing record number of seizure cases after completion of their legal trial in the economic year 2020-21. He said that Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office has discouraged the respondents and their legal consultants for taking unnecessary adjudicating time in the hearing of seizure cases during trial. Customs Adjudication is working efficiently to provide speedy justice through transparent hearing and discouraged unnecessary delay in the seizure cases. Customs Adjudication Multan is disposing all seizure cases speedily on merit to provide quick justice through proper hearing and discouraged unnecessary delay in the seizure cases.

He said that Custom Adjudication is making every effort to dispose seizure cases before the bounded period of seizure and i decided all seizure cases within the assigned period after assuming my responsibility. Covid-19 has disturbed the regular proceedings of seizure cases in Customs Adjudication. Customs Adjudication Multan is bound to finalize the seizure cases within 30 days after issuance of Show Cause notice to respondent.

He said that speedy trial in the seizure cases benefits taxpayers by saving valuable time, money and energy. Collectorate of Customs Adjudication is one of the most important collectorate for the generation of revenue in Customs and Collectorate Officials were well aware of their responsibilities and providing invaluable technical assistance to their high-ups through speedy disposal of seizure cases.

Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Multan is giving maximum output with its limited resources. Customs Adjudication is one of the revenues generating departments for the Customs and Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office has provided handsome revenue to the Collectorate which assists them in accomplishing their set revenue task.
