MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Air Freight Unit (AFU) foiled an attempt to smuggle prohibited meat from Multan International Airport.
Sources told Customs Today that customs enforcement team deputed at Multan International Airport was conducting routine inspection of coming goods.
Customs staff found uncommon pattern of goods during scanning of passenger luggage. Inspector Mirza Muhammad Shahid and Abdul Rauf carried out scanning of goods after suspicious look of goods. Customs team conducted thorough examination of goods and found pork meat which was packed in the cloths.
Passenger Muhammad Bilal son of Ata Muhammad attempted to smuggle pork meat from Dubai. The flight no. ER702 arrived from Dubai to Multan.
However, the Customs officials deputed at the Multan International Airport foiled the bid to smuggle pork and confiscated the meat. The pork meat was recovered from the luggage packed in the thermo pole. Sources told customs officials registered a case against the passengers, adding that further investigation are still underway.
