Multan ASO confiscates goods, vehicles worth Rs 8.6m in April

MULTAN: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized foreign origin goods and vehicles worth Rs 8.6 million during April of the fiscal year 2015-16.

Following the directions of Collector Sarfraz Warriach, the ASO teams conducted various anti-smuggling operations in the jurisdiction to curb menace of smuggling. The ASO formed 12 seizure cases during the period.

The department impounded seven non-duty paid vehicles, including four tempered vehicles and three non-tempered vehicles worth Rs 6.5 million. The vehicles, including Mitsubishi Pajero, Toyota Carina, Toyota Passo, Toyota Premio, Toyota Vitz, Honda Civic and Suzuki Alto, were impounded from different locations.

The ASO seized foreign origin smuggled tyres, batteries, art silk cloth, welding electric rods, blankets, air conditioners and other items worth Rs 2.1 million in different operations.

Officials said that the ASO was performing its active role in curtailing smuggling in the region of south Punjab in order to promote legitimate trade.
