Multan ASO seizes two smuggled cars of worth Rs 3 million

MULTAN: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Multan region has seized two non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 3 million in Dera Ghazi Khan during two operations.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO team intercepted a car, Toyota Premio on Quetta Road in Dera Ghazi Khan and demanded the legal import documents of the car, but the driver could not produce the required documents.

Therefore, the customs officials registered a case and seized the car due to non-provision of legal documents under the Customs Act 1969. The value of the confiscated car is estimated as by the customs officials is Rs 2 million.

The ASO team had also seized another non-customs paid car, Suzuki Alto  in DG Khan  as the driver were unable to show the legal documents regarding possession of the car so the officials seized the car under customs act 1969. The expected value of the car is Rs 1 million.

It is learnt that the ASO teams have enhaced their road checking  in South Punjab particularly in Dera Ghazi Khan to curb the smuggling on special instructions of the high-ups of the  department.
