Multan Customs collects Rs 139.6 billion taxes

LAHORE: The Model Customs Collectorate Multan has collected overall Rs 139.6 billion taxes during the last four fiscal years.

The taxes collected included customs duty, sales tax, federal excise duty and income tax, officials said on Wednesday.

According to statistics, the Multan Customs recovered Rs 28.8 billion in fiscal year 2010-11, Rs 39.5 billion in 2011-12, Rs 35.1 billion in 2012-13, and Rs 36.2 billion in 2013-14.

Meanwhile, Collector Sarfaraz Ahmad Warraich has ordered officials of the customs intelligence and investigation and anti-smuggling organisation to focus on other smuggled items in addition to non-customs paid vehicles.

He said that performance of officials would be gauged on the basis of their operations to check smuggling of daily used items such as plastic granule bags, clothes, cell phones and Iranian petroleum products.
